Residential
Bushfield Residence was already a stunning home beaming with character with a mix of beautiful Victorian features such as arch mouldings in hallways and landings, detailed coving and cornicing set amongst beautifully proportioned rooms. All of which contrasted wonderfully against a newly renovated extension featuring a stunning architecturally designed kitchen/ dining space by Noji Architects.
KLD’s concept for this house was to enhance the beautiful existing features by introducing subtle elements of colour and joinery which would fit seamlessly with the exquisite proportioned rooms. The use of sculptural elements were adopted throughout which can be seen in the echoing arches softening the straight lines evoking a sense of excitement to the eye.
The joinery was carefully designed as pieces of art with custom etching detailed patterns in each room, all of which are sunken into the wall with coving and skirting placed to the front allowing the joinery to become synonymous with the walls for a seamless effect.
The furniture was carefully chosen for each space using playful shapes, sizes & colour which is cleverly linked throughout.
The upstairs was reconfigured; two small rooms and a landing were knocked down to make one large Master Suite. One enters through an enveloping golden arch with a custom arch door set within in. Here, a boutique hotel feel approach was taken, with a custom headboard wall designed as an art piece forming a backdrop with joinery cleverly hidden behind. Simple and effective with one main colour applied to all walls, doors ceiling, skirting and coving allowing everything to blend harmoniously.
A sleep zone and dressing zone was designed in the one space by using different materials such as mirrors and arched fins creating a subtle division with a curtain beautifully set behind this. The custom floor finish was designed in a way to enhance the zones by changing the orientation of the finish and using brass inset trims. The use of repeated shapes, curves, arches and circles even down to the custom ironmongery allows the room to work seamlessly together.
The bathroom which was also reconfigured to work as an ensuite to the master bedroom has become an extension of the bedroom with a simple repeated colour palette and echoing tile pattern from the joinery within.
The clients had a wonderful collection of art which was made the most of throughout the house especially in the hallway where a dramatic entrance was designed by creating a gallery feel with suspended artwork against a full mirrored wall and beautiful joinery with a hidden nook seat to compliment this space.
